A really long update. I promised my cousin Kendra I would blog soon and I delivered... maybe a little too much! LOL, I am sure she just wanted to see some pictures!
WarningFor your sake and mine, it is divided by categories. You can just read what interests you. I am writing this more for me so I can remember everything. This is my attempt at sharing everything from the great, the confusing and the sad things in my life right now.
Socially
I am happy because I have been able to focus on my friends this last week. I finally got to talk to my cousin Katie it had felt like to long. My brothers and my parents more than I normally get too, so that has been wonderful. Then one of my dearest friends Faith called me, who I have been meaning to call (she lives in Tennessee) and so it was a wonderful surprise to get caught up and really share what is in our hearts. Then I got to talk to my Aunt Kath, another one of my dearest friends.
Jeff is so incredibly supportive of me and making sure I get to spend time with the ladies I am friends with. I got together on Sat. last week with Ericka and Emily to sew and we made matching headbands. Ericka is teaching Emily and me how to sew and I love it. Then we decided we would get together this week (tonight) on Thursday and learn how to cook something new. Emily taught us how to make homemade chili and it was really good. I loved getting to spend time with them.
Then on Saturday, Emily and I are going to see a Broadway musical Legally Blondie. I have wanted to see it ever since I found out about it over a year ago. We got a great deal on tickets. Jeff has no desire to see this musical so I am thrilled Emily wants to see it with me. I am looking forward to spending time with Caralee on Friday night and see her new place and catch up and relax together. I am just sad I could not fit Jen in as well on Saturday. I wanted to go to the temple with her, but we have stake conference sat night, class in the morning and the musical in the afternoon.
School
I finish my compensation class Tuesday night, I am thrilled because I feel completely burned out right now. I have three more classes to go to get my human resource management certificate and I need this break. I am sad though to take a break, because I am doing excellent on all the homework and I have not missed any nights of class. I take on the most challenging parts of the team assignments since I am dividing it all out and would feel guilty for taking an easier part.
Everything else in life is overwhelming and is making school overwhelming for me to fit in.
So I find myself up at 2 am trying to complete everything and exhausted from the lack of sleep. I am still going to do my Mat Pilate's class on Saturday mornings at 8 AM though.
I have so much weighing on my mind with work and planning this wedding and wanting to spend time with Jeff, improve my physical heath (wanting to be healthy but struggling with the time to make the food and exercise), increasing my spirituality and maintaining strong friendships.
I want so badly to know how to perfectly balance everything in life and I get discouraged when I am trying to do it all and I realize I can’t because I am not super woman as I had previously thought. Laundry, cleaning and callings all have to fit in to my life as well and staying connected to family and friends who are not nearby. I am trying to do combination of things to balance it better.
For example, Emily was kind enough to let me do a load of whites at her house while we made the chili. That was a load of my mind! And before I go to Caralee’s house on Friday, I am going to do my colors at Jeff’s house so we get time together and I can get it done.
Wedding Updates
Wedding planning is a challenge on so many levels; Jeff and I are so ready to get married. We thought we had a date set, we have been thinking April 10th for the last couple of months and we only put it out that far because my brother John and Lindsay had their baby Cameron recently and Robert and Amanda are having Alyssa in the next three months and it’s a high risk pregnancy. My family is concerned about balancing the births and health of Alyssa when she is born and the wedding and my Mom wants to be able to help Robert and Amanda out.
I want my family at my wedding and we need time to save up for the wedding so we can afford it and so it pushed the date out. Then I called the schedulers for the stake center and asked if I could schedule April 10 and they told me No, because they are having stake baptisms that weekend and will need the cultural hall.
Then I tried for March 27 and of course, it won't work out either because of the Young Women's Broadcast. Then I thought maybe end of April, even though I don't want to push it out any longer, but my maid of honor Tara is in law school and I checked out her calendar and she is in finals at the end of April. They don't have a stake calendar published until December.
I have tried other venues and they are not in my price range. So I feel kind of hopeless right now about picking a date, but don’t despair with me, have hope that a date can be set soon. I was so set on April that I am really annoyed I don’t get it. I am addicted to wedding blogs right now, I love reading them and look at all the pictures and sometimes I admit I get bride envy.
I am trying to focus on what I do have and I know I am blessed. I am marrying my best friend and I am in love with him and he feels the same way about me. I also am really creative and so I know my wedding will be special and beautiful and everything will work out because I put a lot of faith in my Heavenly Father, his timing, his love and his resourcefulness!
Blessings
My Aunt also has blessed my life in many ways, but I want to share one in particular cause it makes me happy thinking about it. Jeff and I recently registered at Macy’s and have fallen in love with this store. We found the perfect China set and were telling my Aunt Kath about it and she said she would give it to us for our wedding. Can you believe that!
She bought it that day for us and I felt overwhelmed with gratitude for her kindness in getting us our china. Jeff and I are going to use it every Sunday to make Sundays stand out even more as a special day for us and eventually our children. I could not have found a more perfect partner for me than Jeff. We are very in sync with what we want and how we want to live our life.
My Mom has also blessed me richly, by sending me an early Birthday gift. She sent me money to buy my favorite crystal vase on our wedding registry at Macy's that is on sale. I am hoping to go get it this weekend. She has also been such a comforter in the stresses of planning a wedding.
The Confusing...
I have felt really sad about a situation with someone that I find myself in. I found out I have offended this person through little things I have done or said for the past four years. All things I had no idea about until recently. And I have genuinely thought this person loved me all this time and I have always loved them. So to find out they don't seem to like me has been emotionally kind of draining and difficult to swallow and hear because of the relationship I thought I had with them. I think about it everyday and it saddens me. I can't tell you how often lately it has brought me to tears, especially at night when I dwell on it. I can't do anything about it. I have tried!
I know I have never meant to hurt this person and if I did feel I had done something wrong, I am thinking of one case, I was quick to apologize and try to make amends.
My intent in sharing this is just to get it out my system, because keeping it in my heart is hurting me and since I can't talk to the person about it I am letting this be my outlet. For the past couple of months, I have felt afraid to say the wrong thing to people in general for fear of offending them and it is making me feel like retreating into myself or people I feel safe around.
I still and will always continue to love this person even if they don't feel the same way about me.
Work
Work has been a roller coaster of emotion for the last seven months. I took on that new challenge and after three months of working overtime everyday just to keep up with two jobs they gave it to another guy to handle. Not because they did not think I could do it, this other director wanted to be in charge of those students and since the job is difficult, my director gladly handed it over to the other directors team member. After a month, it was too much for the other guy to handle and so the other director gave him someone to help him and he still says it is a nightmare and he even got an expert to help him with this!
That kind of made my day that I am not alone in feeling it was a nightmare of a position and stressful. So since they have given it to him, I got put on a project over the summer to work on getting students back into class, I did well at that and then right when Jeff and I announce we are doing that whole competition thing, we go to work the next day and some of our coworkers, 159 of them to be exact got emails to go to the Hilton for a meeting on Tuesday. So, Tuesday comes and they let go of 159 coworkers and told them they can reapply for 130 open positions.
We had felt restructuring in the air over the summer, but never dreamed of all the changes that would be happening. It actually could be great, I am keeping a very open mind regarding everything happening with work. In the meantime all of us, who did not get the email, were asked to work overtime, adopt new schedules, and new responsibilities till they got it all sorted out.
In management’s defense, they handled the letting go and re-hiring in a fast manner, which was very nice. Now they just need to sort out everything else. They got rid of the call center and the team I previously worked with in the past got to take that on and then they asked me to help them with it. I have been doing this for the past three weeks and it is mentally exhausting and completely boring.
I am tired of not having an actual title, job responsibilities and a team of co-workers that I am a part of. I am not complaining at all, just explaining all the stress associated with work right now and the feeling of the unknown that haunts me while I am there and has all summer due to not having a clear picture of what I will be doing.
I do feel incredibly blessed, because I know they like me and I recently got an exceptional raise of 13.8% percent. This is amazing to me and I received an often exceeds expectations on my review. I also am happy to have a job and that Jeff and I work for the same company and we both are going through this change at work together and understand each other. I am blessed because I sit next to three women at work that I love being near and feel close to them. I also know the Lord always has a way of making things better for all of us if we put our trust in him. So I am trying to do this.
